About Us
SHB Tools is a collection of free online tools for everyday jobs: shrinking and converting images, turning photos into PDFs, counting words, changing the case of text, working out percentages and discounts, and shopping and seller calculators for margins, unit prices, tax, instalments, marketplace fees, import costs, shipping weight and stacked discounts. Each tool has its own page with instructions, examples, limits and troubleshooting notes, and the articles section explains the ideas behind them.
Who it is for
Students, office workers, small-business owners, bloggers and anyone who needs to prepare a file for an upload form or tidy up a piece of text without installing software.
How the tools work
The tools run in your web browser using JavaScript and built-in browser features. The tool code is written so that files you select are read and processed on your own device and are not sent to us. Because results depend on your browser, your files and your settings, each page states its limits plainly rather than promising exact outcomes.
Our approach
- Say what a tool actually does, and what it cannot do.
- Show the working so that you can check results yourself.
- Collect as little information as possible. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
- Keep the pages readable, keyboard-friendly and usable on a phone.
What you can expect
- The tools are free and need no account.
- Each tool has a page that explains the settings, shows worked examples and states its limits, including what it cannot do.
- The worked examples that show results, such as word counts, case changes, discounts and reading times, were run through the tools while the site was being built, so they match what the tools produce. Example file sizes for images and PDFs are illustrations only.
- If a tool cannot deliver something, the page says so. The PDF Compressor, for example, reports when it was unable to make a file smaller and does not hand back an unchanged file as if it were compressed.
What the website does not do
- It does not ask you to sign up, and it does not run a comments section or contact form.
- It does not publish reviews, testimonials or awards.
- It does not give financial, tax, legal or medical advice.
- It does not promise results that depend on your files or on other organisations’ rules.
About the articles
The articles explain the thinking behind the tools: why files are large, what the formats are for, how counts and discounts are calculated and where the usual mistakes happen. They are written for ordinary readers and aim to be practical. If you notice an error, we would like to hear about it.
Feedback and corrections
Suggestions for new tools, reports of problems and corrections to our guides are welcome. The most useful reports describe the page, the browser, what you did and what happened, without attaching private files.
